Groundwater Resource Planning

The District plans for conservation and preservation of groundwater resources within its jurisdition through the activities of the Groundwater Resource Planning Program.  The primary activities of the program include participating in the joint planning activities of Groundwater Management Area 15 (GMA 15) and in the regional water planning activities of the Lavaca Regional Water Planning Group (Region P).

Groundwater Management Area 15

​Groundwater Management Area 15 (GMA 15) is a joint planning group created under Texas Water Code §35.001 "to provide for the conservation, preservation, protection, recharging, and prevention of waste of the groundwater, and of groundwater reservoirs or their subdivisions, and to control subsidence caused by withdrawal of water from those groundwater reservoirs or their subdivisions, consistent with the objectives of Section 59, Article XVI, Texas Constitution..."

​On July 15, 2022, the Board of Directors of the District adopted the Desired Future Conditions (DFCs) for Management Area 15 by resolution:

Lavaca Regional Water Planning Group

Lavaca Regional Water Planning Group (Region P RWPG) is tasked with developing the regional water plan for a portion of Texas that includes Jackson County.
